Miss Lena Little was the soloist, and sang for her first selection Liszt's "Mignon" with orchestral accompaniment. She has a clear dramatic soprano, excelling rather in its lower notes. Although we are not in a position to know all the reasons which influenced the Advisory Committee, the probable causes seem clear enough at a glance.
