The shot-put was won by Rick DeLone at 51 ft., 7 in. Highly touted cadets Seay and Clements finished behind him. The discus was a Crimson sweep by John Bronstein (152 ft., 6 1/2 in.), Loren Clayman (146 ft., 8 in.) and Stan Doten (139 ft., 5 in.).
Debaters Laurence H. Tribe '62 and Joseph E. Clements '63 led the squad in its victory.
Cohen broke Sarge Nichols' Harvard Briggs Cage mark with a 52 ft., 4 2/4 in. effort in the shot, as he took second to Jerry Clements of Army. Almaguer tied the meet and Cage records with a 4.7 time or the dash.
The shot put, with Steve Cohen and Rick deLone of Harvard facing Jerry Clements and Jerry Seay of Army, should be extremely close, as should the match between the Crimson's Marty Beckwith and Army's Gene LaBorne in the high jump.
