Usage:

...Friends" tells of a young clerk with an "almost Apollic hand," "a thin nose," a "wide nare," and "unplumbed eyes," who reluctantly wins the friendship of a fellow clerk--and proves to be a girl (as the clever reader has discovered some months in advance of the hero). The story lacks novelty, probability and power. "The Process" appears to be just such a tale as no young man should try to tell, a tale outside the author's experience and beyond the present reach of his imagination. The style is a little too deliberately jaunty...

...playing there lately. Stillman, Talbott and Pendleton are the most promising men for the tackle positions while Avery, Braum and Carter are running a close race for the ends. The position of quarterback seems to he the only one about which there is little doubt as Cornish is a clever player in running the team and carrying the ball. Ainsworth, Knowles, Wilson, Cornell, Castles, and Pumpelly are, in order, the first six men to fill the backfield positions. On Patriots' Day last spring they defeated the University team...

...finals of the University tennis tournament for the singles championship played yesterday on Holmes Field, R. N. Williams, Jr., '16 defeated J. J. Armstrong '14 in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. Although Armstrong played a hard, clever game, showing great speed and often using his chop-strokes with telling effect, the issue of the match was never in doubt. He was simply outclassed by Williams, who played a cool, consistent game marked by periodical flashes of brilliancy. His volleys were excellent and exceedingly cleverly placed, while his base-line shots gained him many points. Armstrong frequently weakened...
