Johan Helsingius' personal computer may be the most loathed machine in cyberspace. Cranks routinely E-mail bomb it, trying to level the IBM clone with millions of pages of gibberish. Hot-headed hackers dispatch bit-eating "worm" programs to Helsinki to search for and destroy the computer's precious electronic cargo. A few vengeful folks have even threatened Helsingius himself, for what would the machine be without...

...Twas right around Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring -- except George Molnar and his mouse. Molnar, president of Midwest Business Systems, a Southfield, Michigan, computer outlet, had just brought home a top-of-the-line IBM clone -- one of those multimedia wonders that come preloaded with dozens of software titles and bedecked with a CD-ROM drive, stereo speakers and a way-too-big monitor. The machine was "a Cadillac," says Molnar, except for one thing: it was having trouble getting started. Molnar sat there, mouse in hand, pointing and clicking, trying...

It doesn't wholly satisfy a Jedi craving--I find it more fun to read about Han and Lein's kids (twins, of course), but until Lucas directs the Clone Wars, this will help keep you smiling. It's a quick read, it brings back many memories and it enhances your life. As procrastination material. I can't recommend it enough. You've seen the movie, now read the book (or the radio script) I May the Force be with...

Until last week, the American Center for Law and Justice (A.C.L.J.), a self- styled conservative clone of the American Civil Liberties Union (A.C.L.U.), was supplying Hill's legal defense on earlier charges of harassing abortion patients. The A.C.L.J. is part of the religiopolitical empire of Pat Robertson, who certainly considers himself mainstream. Yet Hill never made a secret of his belief in the moral necessity of killing abortionists. The * A.C.L.J. says it was representing Hill because the harassment charges infringe his First Amendment right to protest. But the A.C.L.J. is not the A.C.L.U., which routinely defends the rights of people...
