Now that many of its ideas are available at your neighborhood seminar, while others are gathering dust, how does a place dedicated to state-of-the- heart fashions stay fresh? And has it come any closer to proving that feeling good can lead to being good...

...Africa's guerrilla wars: four men wearing green fatigues and packing FN assault rifles fanned out across a wooded ridge. The bush crackled under a punishing afternoon sun as the government patrol scoured the hillside for enemy tracks. Then they heard it: the low murmur of voices drawing closer. Below them, a file of four men -- three carrying AK-47 rifles -- slowly advanced through a yellow sea of elephant grass. Feminist frustration is mixed with existential nuttiness: "You know what scares me? When you have to be nice to some paranoid schizophrenic . . . just because she lives in your body." Redeeming all this from idle perversity are hints of a disillusioned romantic buried underneath...
