...Upton '31, lengthy center, W. R. Harper '30, S. C. Burns ocC, and Vahan Moushegian '32 are among those who will forsake the turf for the court. The return of so many regulars and the addition of a number of last year's Freshman players, should enable Coach Wachter to send a strong and experienced team into action...
...know the varsity cricket teams are the only ones in Cambridge that have out-and-out professional coaching (though it must be remembered that in cricket as in other sports the captain performs many of the functions of the American coach). But there are several features of the coaching of both varsity crew and varsity rugby teams, to take the most prominent examples, which would generally, I think, be more closely associated in our minds with a professional than with an amateur regime. Rowing differs markedly from most other sports here in that the time given to practice and training of necessity far outweighs that occupied in actual competition. On the one hand, if the Houses develop fourth, fifth, and even...
Much scepticism is expressed in sports circles as to the authenticity of Coach Mal Stevens starting line-up as announced last night. The Blue mentor stated that he would start, Albie Booth, Yale's injured flash at quarterback with Harlan Ellis, Ned Austen and Don McLennan as running mates. Inasmuch as this backfield has virtually never been together, some have aired their doubts as to whether Stevens actually means to start it. The only possible alternative seems to be McLennan at quarter with Snead, Miller, and Dunn at the other posts...
