Before coming out on the field, the squad was given a twenty-minute talk by Head Coach Crane on the workings of several new plays. The work began with signal practice by the four teams into which the squad was divided. The regular forward passes and straight plays were tried; and the punting was done by Wendell, Graydon, Rand and Lockwood. The men were then lined up against one another and were given practice in breaking through the line on punts. They were told not to try to block the kicks, but merely to break through the line...
