Usage:

This year, contrary to previous years, voluntary rowing will continue during mid-year examinations. Coach Haines will be at the hothouse as usual every afternoon. This rowing is in no way compulsory and should be used only as a means of exercise. Regular rowing will not begin until a week after the end of the mid-year period, Monday, February 19. During the week after mid-years all candidates will be expected to row at least three times so as to be prepared to begin serious work on the very first day of the regular season...

...Coach Winsor gave the regulars of the University hockey team a short "dope" talk before practice yesterday and then worked them for 20 minutes in shooting and passing. He paid particular attention to team play around the opposing goal and tried to develop formations intended to afford the maximum scoring possibilities. The schemes worked out fairly well in practice, several goals being made, but during the scrimmage they were not as effective, for the men frequently forgot them...

...Freshmen have been handicapped by poor ice this week, but in spite of this disadvantage have been steadily improving under the direction of Coach D. Duncan '17. E. Cabot has shown up especially well, and is a steady, aggressive player and an accurate shot. He and Captain Walker are the strong points of the 1920 line. F. C. Church is a reliable point and carries the puck brilliantly into the opponents' territory, and is well supported by J. Stubbs at coverpoint. W. J. Louderback has shown good form in the goal, but has not played a generally consistent game...

...first practice since the defeat by Princeton, the University hockey team was given no letup, but was worked steadily for an hour in the Arena yesterday afternoon. The men seemed fairly tired after their New York trip and did not put up a very spirited exhibition of hockey. Coach Winsor let E. O. Baker '17, T. H. Rice '17, and G. Townsend '17 off with about 40 minutes of work, but kept the rest of the squad for the full hour...

...Coach Winsor would make no comment in Saturday's defeat but it was obvious that he was very much disappointed and dissatisfied with the outcome of the game. He is starting in, however, to prepare for the contest with the Queen's University team which meets the Crimson seven on Saturday, for although the Canadians have lost many stars because of the war, the University team must improve greatly to be able to defeat them...
