With these three caravels, the Santa Maria, Pinta, and Nina, Mr. Stephenson and his companions plan to sail down from Chicago through the drainage canal and thence down the Mississippi, across the Gulf of Mexico, through the Panama Canal, and up the Pacific Coast to San Francisco.
