...wonder what Eric Crone will be doing this weekend when Harvard faces Yale in New Haven. After all, in the four years he quarterbacked for Harvard, his name became strongly identified with Harvard-Yale football. He had a roller coaster experience with Yale games. He led Harvard to three wins in four years (including freshman season). Yet what he is remembered for is that inglorious safety, the nickname-making two points that christened Crone "Endzone" for the remainder of his career...
...sinks and the livestock barns take on deeper shadows, the crowds drift toward the midway-the merry-go-round, the octopus, the roller coaster and dozens of unnamed rides that promise squeals of terror. Bottle-and coin-toss games offer stuffed animals, drinking glasses and table lamps as prizes. Cahill and five other smugglers were unloading the arms from the coaster Claudia onto a fishing smack when the Irish warships fired warning shots across the Claudia's bow and then sent out a boarding party. All six Provos were later charged with conspiracy to import arms unlawfully; Cahill and two others were held without bail...
...subside into deathly silence and inactivity the next. The varying dynamics of the play as it is written are brilliant, but the demands imposed upon the actors are rigorous: they have to carry hundreds of invisible people--not to mention the people in the audience--along this roller coaster, and sustain it all until the climax. In this production, the actors keep losing grip. We wallow in monotony until a particular line catches us suddenly and throws our heads back as the ride starts again for a while...
