...regrettable. That any Harvard man should have such an unsportsmanlike attitude is to be deplored. But to make public such an article just at this time when every possible effort should be made to help out the coach and the team is mighty poor judgment. Because one man has "cold feet" there is no cause for a publication, which in the eyes of the outside world represents graduate opinion, to discount the eleven in advance. The game with Yale is yet to be played...

...however little he may represent graduate opinion. A more inopportune attack could not have been made by the outside press. Undergraduates are ready to support their team in the face of an unfavorable outlook, and it hardly behooves a graduate paper to attempt to dampen their ardor by throwing cold water at the last moment. Ordinarily we should not call attention to such an article, but since this has come before the outside public, it devolves upon undergraduates to show by their attitude that this premature apology was neither authoritative nor representative...

There is a chance that Parker will not be able to play today on account of his lame back and a cold. In case he has not sufficiently recovered, Hoar will fill his position. ...third annual Freshman track meet was held in the Stadium yesterday afternoon. The weather was too cold to favor any record-breaking performances, and besides, a sharp wind was blowing down the back stretch. This did not prevent H. Jaques from running the mile in the remarkable time of 4 minutes, 37 seconds. R. C. Foster's time for the 100 yards, 10 minutes, 1-5 second, was also good for this time of year. On the whole, however, the performances were not as good as last year...

...their afternoon engagements. The University crew has undergone a few changes, but the order has for the most part remained fixed. Wyman has temporarily taken Severance's place at 5, and G. Bacon has been rowing at 2, in place of Fish, who has been ill with a severe cold. E. Bacon and Sargent, the new men from last year's victorious Freshman crew, are showing up well at stroke and bow, respectively. All the crews are rowing easily, and have been improving slowly. Coach Wray has followed in the launch every day and on Friday was assisted...
