Still, there's no doubt that CT scans offer great potential as a screening tool. They're already providing useful snapshots of the coronary arteries, colon and lungs. Someday they may even replace more invasive tests. We're just not there...

FIBER FILL Who says loading up on fiber is a waste? Just weeks after reports that fiber-rich foods probably don't protect against colon cancer, a study shows that they may benefit folks with a different disease. Diabetics who eat 50g of fiber a day--equivalent to seven or eight portions of fruits and veggies--had lower and more stable glucose levels than those who barely touched the stuff.
