...expression of the best sentiment of the college and is a well-timed protest against a custom, which has become a disgrace. Ninety-two cannot complain of neglect. Mother Advocate, as she dubs herself editorially, coddles the freshmen with a tenderness almost touching, both in the editor's column and in "Topics of the Day." The latter is a few words of valuable advice which deserves the attention of the freshmen, and, if we may suggest of many upper classmen...
...should have been, considering the unusual size of the incoming class, in which there certainly must be many musicians who are capable of playing in the college orchestra. We hope no feeling of timidity will keep any man from trying for the Pierian. In a notice published in another column it will be seen what instruments are most needed, and we urge all men who can play on the instruments named to present themselves at the trial tonight. The Pierian is one of the oldest organizations in college and should receive the hearty support every man who can join...

The managers of the Guitar Club have obtained some Spanish music during the summer, and, if all the candidates who ought to present themselves do so, we are confident that this...
...wish to express our regret at the appearance of an advertisement, at the head of yesterday's "Fact and Rumor" column, which was contrary to the sentiment of the editorial denouncing the continuation of the orgies of "Bloody Monday." The advertiser took advantage of his right to a space in the paper by publishing an announcement which openly showed his appreciation, at least, of such festivities as are repugnant to the majority of students here and detrimental to the best interests of the university. Had the editors been aware beforehand that such an advertisement was contemplated, they would never have...
