"When we take the time to explain how to use them properly," he says, "the vast majority [of callers] regain their comfort with air bags." However, the recent spate of publicity has taken its toll on public confidence. Declared a bystander outside the safety agency's news conference: "They're letting us disconnect them? Great. Baby Boy Grossberg, as he is being called, was born at about 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Room 220 of the Comfort Inn, a motel in Newark, Delaware. Earlier that night, Grossberg, 18, a freshman at the University of Delaware, had called her boyfriend Peterson, also 18, and told him that she was going into labor. I told him that low LSAT scores didn't mean he wasn't intelligent, didn't mean he couldn't be a success in whatever field he chose. Intellectually, I fundamentally believe these thoughts. But it was almost painful for me to say them because there's a less rational part of me that finds them utterly useless...
