DANTE PRIZE.Three essays for the Dante Prize for 1893 were handed in. The committee of the Dante Society on the awarding of the prize find no one of the essays worthy, in their judgment, of the Latham prize, which was the only one offered this year. They commend, nevertheless, the essays by "G. del Fabro" and "Thomas Alwood"- the one for the form in which the author has set forth his matter, the other for the evidences of research displayed...

Last year the old Harvard Union was discouraged, and its successors are seen today in the New Harvard Union and the Wendell Phillips Club. The rivalry between the two will without doubt intensify the interest in debate, and we are heartily glad that it should. Harvard has made an excellent reputation for herself in debating in former years. We have met Yale four times, and have each time shown ourselves superior to her.
