Tompkins, U.S.M.C., former commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and now commanding general, 3rd Marine Division, Viet Nam, I wish to correct your statement concerning the general's " . . . limp at the end of a ten-mile hike" [Nov. 24].
