...says Charly Herscovici, head of the Magritte Foundation: "Brussels needs a Magritte museum just like Paris has a Picasso museum and Amsterdam a Van Gogh museum." Housed in the prim, neoclassical Hotel Altenloh just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace, the Magritte Museum is part of the complex of buildings that comprise Belgium's Royal Museums of Fine Art. But the sober-minded setting is something of a deception: echoing the artist's mischievous streak, the museum's windows have been replaced by realistic paintings of plump clouds against a blue...
...hope to spread a little of what makes me happy,” Constantino wrote in an e-mailed statement yesterday. “I look forward to becoming more involved in the community here. I hope I can help students reach for their intellectual potential, navigate the complex social scene, and deal with any challenges they might encounter.” In the selection process for a new resident dean, undergraduate residents of Cabot were consulted to narrow down the field of applicants. Harvard undoubtedly has provided us with an amazing academic opportunity. Writing coherent and compelling 20 page papers 4 years ago would have been unthinkable. According to University spokeswoman Lauren Marshall, a second funding installment of the same amount is due in January. “We remain firmly...
...doubt, for the council has often appeared more self-important than productive. But as the elected student government, the UC has always held a great deal of potential. Created by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the UC’s responsibility is to advocate for students in a complex and decentralized Harvard administration. Even though the mission of the council is straightforward, it has never been easily accomplished. The UC has become a whipping post for students frustrated by the lack of student input in college and university wide decisions. While fingers often point to a hyper-political council...
