Hence it is the part of a wise person to make his working conduct as like to his sleep as possible. Therefore, beware of every extreme. Avoid laughing, that you may not weep, - mirth, lest you become sad, - anger, that it may not return into your own heart, - joy, lest you find too soon that it stays not on the earth, - the excitement of wine, of music, or of company, for he who drinks of that cup shall find the dregs bitter. In all things seek regularity, for it is the surest destroyer of thought, and all thought leads...
...article was published in the Boston Advertiser of last Tuesday morning, in view of the approaching Boating Convention, which contained some original suggestions in regard to the conduct of the next Collegiate Regatta. It is noticed, principally, that regattas have always been mismanaged, and the trouble lies in the multiplicity of managing committees or in their unwieldy nature. To remedy this, and make the arrangements harmonious and effective, it is suggested that some college graduate be appointed as Marshal, whose authority is to be supreme in all matters connected with the regatta, and who shall have power to appoint assistants...

YALE at once sent a challenge to Harvard to row a new race on Monday, - a challenge which was refused by Captain Goodwin, of the Harvards, on the ground of the ungentlemanly conduct of the Yale crew. To the unprejudiced spectator of the race, Yale seemed no more guilty of foul play than Harvard, while the task of adjudging blame to either is rendered hopeless by the contradictory statement of the members of the two crews. It is to be regretted that Harvard refused to row, a new race, as by this way only could the difficulty have been settled...
