The ground was wet and soggy, but Yale rolled up a score of 48 points to nothing against the Chicago Athletic team, their opponents, scoring 36 points the first, and 12 the second half. The chief business was the adoption of a complete new system of commencement exercises, and the discontinuance of the valedictory and salutatory. The graduating theses of the Law and Scientific Schools and the Townsend orations of the academic department will be held as usual, and a new officer who will be known as "orator" will present the candidates for degrees to the President and Corporation. Ray Tompkins and Billy Rhodes will assist in the work of training the team for the big games. ...HAVEN, CONN., Nov. 4. - Manager Cable of the Yale football team returned to college today after a conference with the Princeton management in New York. He says that Dec. 1 is the date of the Yale - Princeton game beyond the possibility of a doubt. The managers of the rival teams have under consideration offers from Ambrose Park and Eastern Park, Brooklyn, and Manhattan Field and Berkeley Oval, New York City, for the game, but are undecided which to accept.
