DIED. John K. Jessup, 72, chief writer of LIFE's editorial page for 22 years; of a heart attack; in Wilton, Conn. In 1935 Jessup was hired by Time Inc. Founder Henry R. Luce as a writer for FORTUNE. Five years later he took charge of TIME's business section, and in 1944 moved on to LIFE, where he presided over the only regular editorial page among Time Inc. publications.
