Died. Clarence D. Chamberlin, 83, the first pilot to fly with a passenger on a nonstop transatlantic flight, just two weeks after Charles Lindbergh's historic solo trip in 1927; in Shelton, Conn. Chamberlin was prepared to make the first nonstop trip to Europe weeks before Lindbergh was ready, but legal problems kept his plane on the ground, and Lindbergh set the record.
