...city itself, the daily terror is the constant expectation of a rocket attack. The Chinese-built 107-mm. missiles are wobbly, unguided weapons at best, which the insurgents fire from metal tubes propped up by two sticks or the fork of a small tree. They are a barbarous form of warfare, because when they hit the ground or touch a treetop they turn into thousands of jagged, 2-in. shrapnel fragments. Innocent women and children going about their daily chores seem to be their most common victims...
...employee relations. Then on January 22, his supervisor, Frances E. Sweeney, charges he left the Currier kitchen for half an hour to organize an employees' meeting at North House on company time. The meeting was the latest in a string of minor battles between Holcombe, who had been registering constant complaints and papering the bulletin boards with pronunciamenti, and his superiors...
...film does achieve one of its goals. Its exquisite photography makes it truly erotic, at least for a while. Shot in Bangkok, the film is stunningly exotic and a constant visual delight, and Jaeckin placed the most beautiful bodies he could find against this rich background. Emmanuelle, in her unfailingly dumb, wondering way, never leaves any doubt that in the end she'll give in, she'll assimilate in the most predictable...
...like those that dotted the prewar Bar Lev Line along the canal. "We've changed our style," says one army commander. "We're basing our defense now on armor, mechanized troops and self-propelled guns that would move quickly to any trouble spot." Israeli armor is on constant alert. About the only time the engines of the 155-mm. and 175-mm. self-propelled gun carriers are turned off is when Soviet spy satellites are about to pass overhead. The engines are shut down eight hours before the pass-overs so that infra-red sensors on the satellites...
