...funniest occurs roughly midway through the movie, at a point when Paul has just evaded an assassination attempt with aid from Jelly, ruining Ben's wedding at the same time (in a very subtle parody of The Godfather's baptism sequence). The ten minutes that follow contain dime-store Freudianisms turned on their heads, idiotically mushy dialogue, the only good line assigned to Ben's fiancee (Lisa Kudrow) in the entire film, and the bizarre sight of Robert De Niro emptying a machine-gun into an unoccupied sofa...

...material known as polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. To make PVC pliable, manufacturers treat it with softeners known as phthalates (pronounced thalates)--loosely bound chemicals that easily leach out of the plastic. In the U.S. millions of IV bags made of PVC are used annually. If the liquids the bags contain pick up stray phthalates, they can be transfused straight into the veins of patients. Animal studies suggest that phthalates can damage the liver, heart, kidneys and testicles, and may cause cancer. "We don't know the toxicity mechanism," says Charlotte Brody, a registered nurse and a coordinator of Health Care...

...liner notes to Breaking God's Heart, the debut album by Scotland's Hefner, contain three injunctions, which characterize Hefner rather well: "If you like this record send us one of yours. Be kind to small businesses. Buy more Beach Boys records." These are good sentiments, well meaning and empty headed. Such is their music. Hefner's Brit-pop inclinations are balanced by Antony Harding's vocals, which careen from Elvis Costello to the Violent Femmes' Gordon Gano--although the lyrics never come close to the wit or heart of those...

Harvard Student Agencies' The Unofficial Guide to Life at Harvard cites only one "Lost and Found"--the HUPD station at 29 Garden St. Is this it, the motherlode of missing stuff? The police admit to harboring a stash, but say it's unlikely that it would contain misplaced clothing or that overdue problem set. This central location receives bigger and better things--wallets, jewelry and the occasional laptop...
