Usage:

Susan McDougal is in jail for contempt after refusing to answer Starr's questions before a grand jury. Having been granted immunity for anything other than perjury, Susan can no longer invoke the Fifth Amendment privilege. In various interviews since her conviction, including an appearance on ABC's 20/20, Susan has cited her fear and distrust of Starr and his prosecutors as her reason for silence. But as the line "making a list and checking it twice" evokes images of jolly St. Nick, not of belligerent Benito, I think we're justified in assuming that Peninsula's goal was not really to inspire all good men to unbind their faces. Peninsula well deserves the contempt this latest stunt has brought them, but it's hard to believe that their sophomoric hyperbole intimidated anyone...

This is not to say that these instances are totally directed at the Hispanic population, but considering the negative effects that these measures would have on the Hispanic community, the very fact that they are even mentioned suggests a contempt for the Hispanic population. Surprisingly, little is being said about this contempt. Unfortunately, little will probably be done...

While McFadden begins and ends his piece by criticizing radical activism for AIDS, his real issue is the moral legitimacy of homosexuality. When he attempts to draw parallels between smokers and homosexuals he displays his moral contempt rather than his intelligence. This comparison has no place within a reasoned debate. To imply that gays and lesbians actively choose to be criticized and discriminated against is folly. But whether or not they choose thier sexual orientation, that should not compel any state to condemn an act of loving between two consenting adults...
