Many Germans had regretted Turkey's success reaching the tournament's semifinals, its first ever, fearing that the contest could lead to clashes between the communities in a country not known for its ability to integrate ethnic minorities. (In a recent poll, nearly 40% of young Turks living in Germany, including many who were born in the country, said they would like to move to Turkey, even if they had never actually lived there, citing an atmosphere of intolerance toward Muslims.) ...Russians, that other surprise package, pretty much know what's in store in their semifinal against Spain since the Iberians thumped them 4-1 in the opening group game. This is not the same naïve bunch that gambled so recklessly in that contest. Look for them to attack early and defend deep and take their chances against a very talented Spanish side. And be thankful that they won't play like Italy...

...little uncertain about. To say nothing of Ohio Democrats, who did not exactly swamp Obama with votes in the March 4 primary (he won exactly 5 of the state's 88 counties.) I wonder how many days of clean-up visits those remarks added to Plouffe's plan to contest the Buckeye state - or whether his comments could prove to be a self-fulfilling prophecy...
