...Cliftons, 5.The freshman nine defeated the Cliftons on Jarvis field yesterday afternoon in a contest too one-sided to be interesting. For the first five innings the Cliftons played fairly well, but after that the whole nine, and the battery especially, played a miserable game. The freshmen did not make many errors in the field, but the played with very little life. They were strengthened by the presence on the team of the 'varsity freshman substitutes.
