Since the Loker survey did not get a very high return in Winthrop House (it had a one percent response rate, in contrast to the overall student response rate of nearly ten percent), I decided to do a survey of my own in the dining hall. Kevin Smith, by contrast, owes nothing to nobody. As he proved with a few bucks and some black-and-white film stock in Clerks, he's an original, a deadpan, dead-on observer of the whole Gen-X mess. In Chasing Amy, he has moved up slightly--color film, more than one setting, scenes with actual extras in them. But he's still a guy making two-shots of people talking about their troubles, working them through on the basis of faulty information and silly suppositions...

A small highlighted paragraph in the program booklet introduced this program as an experiment in concerto styles, setting forth the traditional three-movement Quantz concerto as a "control" for the more contemporary programmatic styles of the last two concertos. ...article "Spring Break brings Welcome Respite" (news story, March 21) by Emily B. Wong failed to mention the Kuumba Singers tour of various churches in cities here in the Northeast. Not only would this have added an interesting contrast to the Southern trips taken by other groups, but Kuumba is also a largely minority group taking part in spring break activity...
