Last week the opponents formed a coalition, Californians United Committee Against Proposition 63, and a political-action committee, which hopes to raise $1 million to fight the initiative. The proponents have already raised $550,000, and they say they will counter any blitz from the opposition. The initiative, which got on the ballot with more than 1 million signatures, is a good bet to pass.
