And watching her with Couric, you had to wonder what happened to the spirited, sparkling character who swept onstage in St. Paul and turned the race upside down...

A number of commentators, including the Atlantic's James Fallows and Slate's Christopher Beam, have echoed Beam's assessment that Palin resembled a "high schooler trying to BS her way through a book report," which is an insult to both high schoolers and BS.
