Reagan's tour was more courteous than momentous, meant to create an impression of U.S. sensitivity rather than diplomatic coups. For all that, Reagan handled himself well. He delighted the Brazilians, treated Colombian contrariness with aplomb and showed requisite concern toward Central American countries.
