...tennis tournament yesterday Phillips and Read best Booth and Thomas in the morning with a score of 6-1, 6-2, and thus entered the finals. In the afternoon the final match was played by them with Pier and Dodge on the Carey Court. Throughout the match the playing was excellent on both sides. Though from the score it seems as if Read and Phillips had won an easy victory, in reality every point was hard earned and not till the last game did the supporters of Pier and Dodge give up hope.
