...expatriate working in Riyadh, I eagerly bought the latest edition of TIME, attracted by the cover story "Saudi Women's Quiet Revolution" by Andrew Lee Butters [Oct. 19]. But when I settled down to read the story I found that it had been censored and pages 23-24 were removed. I went back to the store to see if I could find a copy with the full article but they were all similarly censored. I guess that the cover headline but too slowly for some is all too true here in Saudi Arabia. Name and address withheld...

Maestro Gianpaolo Valli whips such students into shape. "You need to know what makes a strawberry!" he shouts. His lively lectures, delivered in deliriously Italian-cadenced, non sequitur - studded English, cover such topics as how to identify a fruit's sugar content and how to do the surprisingly complicated math of balancing sugar (an antifreeze) and fat (the opposite): "You increase the fat content, but it freezes. So you need to compensate with sugar. You say, 'Maestro, not possible!' Yes, it is possible! I show...

...part, Luft made his first reception since the Princeton game two weeks ago. He’s only managed 148 yards this season, partly because the opposition generally tends to double cover him and partly because he runs the deep route in an offense geared towards short passes...
