Sadly, however, the venue in which most of the world's hip hop listeners live the music is at the shows where signed artists come to a town near you to perform their album material. Put simply, next to the cozier, more covert settings of what we can loosely term the "underground," such shows are just weak-wack. Typical rap artists either stand on stage with nothing entertaining to deliver except the mere presence of their stardom (e.g., Jay-Z), or they riddle their acts with gimmicky stage props or too many cohorts (e.g., Nas, Wu-Tang). Or they repeat...
Speaking of easy gags: Don Johnson, banking on a Burt Reynolds inability to covert our knowledge of his washed-up career into a slimy on-screen persona (what this implies about our judgment of people and stars is somewhat disturbing). Unfortunately, Johnson's acting skills aren't quite up to par (Tin Cup...never mind): his comic timing stinks and sinks one scene after another, not disastrously, since his character's smoothness is meant to fall short of his lust...

Few surprises there, but nobody was expecting Ritter to confirm that UNSCOM contained a number of CIA covert operatives -- one of the reasons cited by Baghdad for his own expulsion from Iraq...
...Ritter feels that he was first drawn into U.S. covert intelligence-gathering and then later frozen out," says TIME U.N. correspondent William Dowell. Among the reasons allegedly cited were his marriage to a Russian woman. "That's an insult to his pride as an intelligence professional," says Dowell, "and he's hitting back by accusing the CIA operatives dealing with Iraq of being more concerned with advancing their careers than with the real danger posed by Iraq's weapons." That'll teach those cloak-and-dagger boys to mess with a Marine...
