It has grown to include 211 exhibition rooms, 36 craft shops, three hotels and seven restaurants. To direct the tourists, the foundation spends $500,000 a year maintaining a staff of 600 garbed in colonial costumes. The 30 shuttle buses provided for visitors burn a $1 million hole in the budget; fresh flowers, finger bowls and exquisitely manicured lawns and gardens cost thousands more. Lucas' craftsmanship shines with particular brilliance in the final half hour of the film. Besides the stunning special effects that the director calls upon to underscore the urgency of this concluding sequence, Lucas masterfully builds up the suspense to a shattering pitch as one rebel craft after another falls prey to the marauding pilots of the imperial forces. The toll of casualties among the rebels keeps adding up until one lone plane remains; naturally, it is manned by Luke Skywalker (Hamill), the naive twenty-year-old enraptured by Princess Leia's beauty who seeks to avenge the death...

Also aboard are many of his paintings and a gang of hijackers who gas crew and passengers and slip down below the altitude where radar can track the craft. Then they fly it smack into the ocean. The thing sinks but does not flood, thanks to some watertight compartments Stewart has thoughtfully provided for his artwork. Everyone behaves predictably.
