Pickering of the Harvard Observatory will leave Cambridge next week on an expedition to Jamaica, to do some special work with the new 135-foot telescope, which was constructed for the Observatory last year and which he will take with him. He will have Mr. E. R. Cram, one of the assistants, to help him in his observations and will be gone about six months. The new telescope has proved to be satisfactory in the tests that it has been put to in Cambridge during the past few months, and it has already given good results...
