Desperado Dean Martin and four of his scruffy gunmates are set to swing for murder. The visiting hangman (James Stewart) rides into town looking like Ichabod Crane with a bad case of saddle sores, and cacklingly tells the condemned that they have the kind of "necks that'll snap pretty good." The joke, see, is that Stewart is really Martin's square-shootin' brother, and the hangman bit is a ruse to spring Dino and the boys. ...camera style of slow and balanced moving shots is, successfully executed, one of the great joys of narrative film. When Chris goes to Paul to reassure him in a scene discussed earlier, Chabrol cuts together shots already in motion, joining a shot moving left in a circular are, a crane down from high angle, a forward track moving left, one moving right, and a pull back to wide-angle. The plane promises to revolutionize military logistics and strategy. Inspecting the craft at Lockheed's Marietta, Ga., plant back in March, President Johnson noted that 88 ordinary cargo planes would be necessary to move an infantry brigade from Hawaii to Viet Nam-and the brigade's heaviest equipment would have to go by ship. By contrast, just...

...They were dancing in the streets when we brought this tax rate in," Vellucci says. He and other members of the council majority have made sure that the voters will not forget it. During a hearing on a routine renewal of the Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee, Crane sharply questioned the group's director about the costs of its work, and noded approvingly when he was assured that overhead was kept below ten per cent of project costs. At another hearing--this one with Justin M. Gray, the city manager's assistant for Community Development Crane wanted to know when...
