...Broadway, and on the whole a livelier show. Unhappily missing are Dazed Comedian Bobby Clark, "Think a Drink" Hoffman with his magic bar tending, and Carmen Miranda with her tropical lure. But missing also are half a dozen numbers that slowed up the show, while Abbott & Costello are crazier and better than ever. New to the show is Gypsy Rose Lee, with her famous absent-minded striptease. If it doesn't make up for Miranda, it keeps anyone in the audience-temporarily at least-from thinking about...

Increase v. Decrease. Are U. S. citizens getting crazier? Dr. Dayton thinks not. Re-admissions to mental hospitals, he found, "have been decreasing. This is of tremendous significance." Hospital care, he suggests, is probably more successful than most people think. ...United Hospital Fund actuaries figure, the New York megalopolis will contain 17,535,000 people, will require 116,800 hospital beds. New establishments and replacements should cost $607,216,300. As in the rest of the U. S., the population is getting older on the average, and crazier. So the New York area must have more accommodations for its mentally and chronically ill. On the other hand, many people, including pregnant women, go to hospitals when they could be treated just as well at home. Needed, therefore, will be more visiting nurses making rounds of tenements, apartments, private homes...

They went even crazier when the Redskins scored first in the first quarter after "Slingin' Sam" Baugh had whipped a pass to the Chicago 7-yd. line and Cliff Battles had gone around right end on a fake pass. Then the Bears warmed up and scored two quick touchdowns, both by Jack Manders, the league's leading scorer. The quarter ended with the Bears leading 14-to-7. The second quarter was scoreless, and Redskin rooters moaned when Sam Baugh was pulled out from under four of the larger Bears and was led off the field...
