Some gentleman, purportedly with a crewcut and perhaps even a VFW, has consecrated his entire property to the glory of God. At least 30 small trees, not to mention the big ones, are strung with lights; a large manger scene graces his front lawn; his garage lit up like a chapel; and his house is the temple...

AFTER A couple more scenes--one where a thin old woman approaches a desk, peers through her thick glasses at the case worker and says in a wispy little voice, "I'm going to drop dead."--the camera finally focuses on welfare workers behind the scenes. A crewcut man with a thin tapering voice while looking at the same couple's folder, is telling a secretary, "...apparently extenuating social conditions exist." He falters and adds, "could just be a case of lousy conditions...

Died. Oswald G. Nelson, 68, the "Ozzie" of Ozzie and Harriet; eight months after surgery for liver cancer; in Hollywood. Crewcut, relentlessly wholesome Ozzie Nelson was the archetypal all-American boy. Born in Jersey City, he became the nation's youngest-ever Eagle Scout at 13, starred as a quarterback at Rutgers and worked his way through law school by moonlighting as a bandleader. In 1935 he married his comely singer-emcee Harriet Hilliard; in their radio adventures, which began in 1944, he was the cheerful, slightly bemused pipe-and-slippers family man, she the sweetly understanding helpmate steering...
