Every once in a while the fairy-tale world of Harvard sports approaches reality. Such was the case this week as Eric "End-Zone" Crone learned that he had been drafted in the last round by the St. Louis Cardinals as a possible professional running back, and two Harvard athletes, Dave Hynes and Dragan Vujovic, left the University for different personal reasons...
...year later, everything turned sour. The Cowboys began to crumble during the first part of the season. On Nov. 15, Dallas lost, 38-0, to the St. Louis Cardinals (this was during the pre-Crone era). Three days later, Rentzel saw 2001: A Space Odvssey, and reacting strongly to the movie, his depression hit new depths. The following afternoon, he drove out aimlessly after practice before finally exposing himself once again...
This winter, he can forget about Endzone Crone while he sits in Section 18 getting his yah-yah's out over what is probably the best Harvard hockey team in history (nostalgia for the days of the Cleary brothers and Tim Taylor's '62 team aside). I have also been amazed that Restic continues to play Crone despite his obvious deficiencies which you have so lucidly noted. Hopefully, your editorial will have some influence and we will be spared Crone's ineptitude forevermore. If not, your unrestricted criticism of Crone will have my continued support. Mike Hertenstine...
Yale's second string quarterback, Roly Purrington, summed up the team's attitude towards Crosse. "I don't think there's anybody here who look Bric Crone is Yale's nemesis." Purrington does get excited about the thought of beating Harvard on its own turf, however. As a sophomore, Purrington come in late in the game and drove the Elis to the Harvard 20 before overthrowing a fourth down pass in the final minute, setting the stage for Eric Crone's infamous dash into his own endsone on the last play of the game. Purrington, who wears Brian Dowling...
