Princeton's success at defending against the run forces the opposition to throw the ball and this is what Restic plans to do But to go to a passing attack involves having a healthy quarterback, and Harvard has a shortage of these as well Eric Crone and Jimmy Stoeckel the starters in the first six games this year are hurting and while both will make the up it is uncertain how much either will be able to play...
Part of the problem has also been a long-time tradition of inadequate quarterbacking. Harvard has featured such quarterbacks as John McCloskey, who happily, but somewhat prematurely, spiked the ball on the Columbia two-yard line on his way to (what would have been) a touchdown, and Eric Crone, of endzone infamy, but the Crimson has had few, if any, quarterbacks known for their ability to mastermind a last second drive -- with the exception, of course, of 1968 Yale game hero Frank "42 seconds" Champi, a second string quarterback who had never done it before and never did it again...

Restic's "New Wave" pass attack is to flood the defensive zones with receivers who then must sink or swim. If "Endzone" Crone can maintain solidarity with his ends, victory should be easily attained...
Nevertheless, the Harvard coach doesn't want to rush Crone back into action prematurely. "I'd hate to put him in where he might get trapped and try to throw long and end up tearing the shoulder out," he said...
