Saturday afternoon Harvard played Yale at New Haven for the first time this season and was defeated by a score of 14 to 5. The weather was all that could be desired for ball playing, and there was an enormous crowd in attendance. The grand stand was packed with spectators and rows of carriages three or four deep nearly surrounded the whole field. There were two or three very unpleasant features connected with the game. A small crowd of eighty-eight men collected on the seats back of first base, and by their continuous cheering completely rattled the Freshmen, and aided their nine materially in winning the game. Just one minute after play began again, Blodgett squirmed the ball out of a crowd, and threw our first goal. Davidson followed his example and scored a second goal before the second minute was up, by a beautiful under shot. Cambridge made a brace after this, and for fourteen minutes neither side scored.
