Critics of the Munich settlement have had ample opportunity to crow in the last few days. Apparently, their worst fears are being realized. But there has been too much denunciation of Chamberlain and not enough realization of one fundamental fact: time is on the side of the democracies. If, last September, Germany and Italy had at least three times as many effective fighting planes as England and France combined; if Germany's monthly output was greater in almost the same proportion; and if, at the same time, England had plans to double her fleet and equal Germany in planes...

...Word slips through from New York that Teddy Wilson's new band will open at the Famous Door late in April; and that Bud Freeman is going to take a mixed band into one of the night spots. A grand idea:--Goodman started the breakdown of the Jim Crow traditions in regard to colored musicians playing with white, and it now looks as though a mixed band may have some chance for success. . . .
