"Extenuating social conditions" comes out of his mouth like a cue card line in a mediocre soap opera. And that's part of Wiseman's style. The bias is there, the observers are aware that by their act of watching they are affecting what happens on camera and the distortions this causes aren't edited out; they too are a subject for investigation...

Frequently the film is in the can before the composer sets to work. While he watches the movie, he jots down musical ideas, which he then talks over with the producer and director. After that head session, cue sheets are made that include dialogue, action and music suggestions. Perhaps the most important thing you should do is demand that all committee meetings be open to the public. At the present time CHUL meetings are closed to the 5,985 or so students who are not members, and the same is true of the CUE. These committees are making decisions that affect you, but you have no way of knowing how the decisions are made. The administration and Faculty members of the CHUL argue that if the meetings were open to the public it would be impossible to discuss sensitive issues or confidential information, like how much to increase...
