At the Berkeley, Calif, meeting of the Sixth Pacific Science Congress, Dr. Phillips Thygeson, of Manhattan's famed Presbyterian Hospital, announced that sulfanilamide was an effective treatment for trachoma. When Dr. Thygeson fed Sulfanilamide tablets to two large groups of patients, he "obtained healing or striking improvement in a high proportion of cases."
