...very good conditions. The first crew gained steadily and finishing three and a half lengths ahead. The time was 10 minutes, 3 seconds. The race between the Freshman and second crews was very close. In the first half mile the Freshmen secured a good lead but the second gradually cut it down and finished only a few feet behind. Shortly afterwards the Yale university and freshman eights went over the same course under slightly better conditions. Their time was a few seconds faster but could not be accurately obtained...
