...remembered the lyrics: "First to fight for right and freedom, And to keep our honor clean." In Afghanistan, I went out on patrol in the desert hills looking for Taliban with Marines; they were a solid bunch of guys, as steely, brave and as irreverently funny as my dad had led me to believe...

DIED. Peter Boyle, 71, actor who created some of show biz's most memorable eccentrics, both comedic and brutal, in films including Taxi Driver (a philosophical cabbie) and The Candidate (a shrewd campaign manager) and on the TV hit Everybody Loves Raymond (the title character's hilariously insensitive dad); of multiple myeloma and heart disease; in New York City. He chose acting after an unhappy stint as a monk and won seven Emmy nominations as Frank Barone on Raymond. His signature was finding vulnerability or humor in flawed characters, as in a masterly scene from the 1974 film Young Frankenstein...

Forget genre and sexual orientation: this is a masterpiece about two people who live in the same house but different worlds, and their mysterious debts to each other...

Unfortunately, none of his apprentices can approach his level of skill, although Sun God does manage to sound older than dad. Ghostface doesn’t even appear in “Gotta Hold On,” a track that seems somewhat out of place on the album both rhythmically and lyrically. There is also a “Back Like That” remix featuring Kanye West, who provides here...
