...Then it came to their dancefloor hit "Hey You (What's That Sound)." Proceeding along very much like the album version, "Hey You" was fairly warmly received initially. Then, drifting in, under the radar, under the bassline of "Hey You," came the insertion of the familiar strains of another melody. Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. So the infuriatingly catchy intro to New Order's "Blue Monday" has no words. Didn't stop any of us from singing along...
...sophistication unfurls in a lazy crawl over barely-populated audio-maps of restrained infectiousness. It is an enchanting but ultimately deserted place they take you, inhabited only by a gaseous voice. This is music you always heard in your head--but never so well made. Foraying onto the micro-dancefloor, Saint Etienne enlist the expertise of Trouser Enthusiast to mix beats for your pulse in "We're in the City." Sean O'Hagan's electronic wizardry also guest-stars in "52 Pilot," lending a signature High Llamasian boost to Cracknell's tingle-worthy vocals. The album is an uncontested...
Liquid Sky Music's first release, Don't Panic! is an uptempo concoction of four-on-the-floor beats and thick synth lines. But DJ Silver is deceptive. This is much more than a dance album. And although lacking James's technical brilliance or devilish...

The album's delectable pastiche of 4/4 beats, cut-up vocals and instruments, and funk-tinged deep bass (even the Foxy Brown theme gets sampled) creates some of the most massive tunes to hit the dancefloor, including the storming single "Cassius 99" with its shout-along layer of Donna Summer's "Love is Just a Breath Away" vocals. There's an edgy feeling caused by the precise pruning of the synths and vocal samples midway, and this collage effect both reinvigorates old samples (Gwen McCrae's voice...
From funky, bluesy, James Brown-inspired "SexyMF" to the grinding, hip-hop, jamming "The Max,"Prince is musically up to snuff. His tracks--likealways--are made to make you sweat on the dancefloor. The only real letdown is the loungelizardy"Damn U." It's Prince meets a Holiday Inn grandballroom...
