College interest at Yale is centered in the Junior Promenade, which occurs January 19, and in its attendant Germans and the Glee Club concert. Great efforts are being made by those in charge to reduce all expenses as far as possible, as this feature is in danger of increasing to such a degree as to bar out many men in the University...

...tree exercises themselves deserve comment. I can see no reason why another tree should not be chosen, if the crowd which attends the exercises is to be as large as in past years. The danger which attaches to so large a gathering within so small a space has been pointed out already; and the inconvenience of it is patent. With the sentiment-"the tree has been used so many years," I have no sympathy. I would not live in an old building, on that account, if I could live in a new one, with its numerous conveniences. It seems as if the one small exit from the enclosure might be increased...

...course, the objections against the danger from the crowded enclosure might be met by reducing the number of people and enlarging the exits; or by moving to another tree with plenty of room about it as, for instance, one behind either Matthews or University. The character of the exercises might also be changed so that no one could find fault with them. The gathering, marching and cheering are certainly pleasing features and the scramble around the tree many think might be changed so that individuals would have more chance of success and could compete without donning football clothes and without...
