...ultra transcend these conventional schemes, where you can notice he actual format and where he breaks it up, as in "Straight OuttaNow Rule": "A lot of y'all n*ggas is 85th/ on someshady sh*t/ bark is much worse than your bite likea baby pit/ in the pitch dark of the night youafraid to get exposed/like the sunlight which rosein the morning/ froze in a gunfight." ...Swedish band, the Cardigans, it resides in the encounter of contrary instincts--the sweet, seductive purr of joyful music and the dark, cruel snarl of painful obsessions. Remember "Lovefool," the song from a couple of years ago that burst off the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack and was suddenly, like the fixated ex-lover it depicted, lurking stubbornly everywhere you looked? Few songs have snuck a more subversive view of love into the frivolous dance arena of top 40 radio. One of several miracles that writer, director and actor Roberto Benigni performs in this film is to convince the audience that this is not a contradiction in terms. And though the humor has some dark undertones, it's as far as can be from a black comedy. Life is Beautiful is a species of film that hasn't quite been categorized yet and that might be difficult for fans of Benigni's extraordinary work to reproduce...
There are also some dark and lazy tracks: "You Turn the Screws" and "Hem of Your Garment" are vindictive and repentant, respectively. You have to wonder, though, why all singers long for some lost love all the time. Isn't there anything else to talk about? Not that McRea does a bad job being sorry or thinking about a girl, but you have to ask, is that all there is in life to sing about? Still, the strength of the beat and the intricacies of the music impress you; you can tell that you are in the presence of honest...
