Yesterday afternoon Harvard in a measure retrieved her defeat of last week by beating Dartmouth with a score of three to two. The game was rather slow and uninteresting, but was nevertheless encouraging, as it was the best played game the nine have put up this season. With the exception of Whittemore's two errors, the fielding was swift and sure. The outfield had little work to do. For the infield Winslow and Stevenson put up the best games. The fielding of the former was very good, but he does not seem to know what to do when he reaches...
...Dartmouth came to the bat first. McCornack fouled out to Scannell; Folsom knocked a grounder which was fielded by Highlands to first; then Abbott made a safe hit to left field, but was put out in trying to reach second. Harvard started off rather more successfully. Winslow hit a grounder to third and was put out at first. Hayes then came to the bat and knocked a three-bagger and scored on Whittemore's single. Scannell struck out and Paine flied out to second base...
...rain yesterday afternoon stopped the game with Dartmouth in the middle of the fourth inning. The score then stood four to one in Dartmouth's favor. Of the playing of both sides little can be said. Harvard was especially weak at the bat and made but three hits with a total of four. Dartmouth on the other hand found no trouble in batting Highlands freely. Four timely hits in the first inning brought in two of their runs, Wrenn's wild throw to first and a wild pitch let in another run in the second, and two safe hits...
